Common Renovation Questions

common-renovation-questions

When deciding to start a renovation, there are many questions that may come to mind. The most common questions that we typically encounter are related to the time frame to complete a project, overall project expectations, who will be the points of contact and fluctuation in pricing.

How long will my project take?

After going through the details of your project with you and understanding the scope of work that is required, we will be able to provide you with an expected timeline for your project’s completion. Despite always doing our best to provide a realistic timeline for completion, there can be unforeseen factors outside of our control that can potentially cause delays. If a scenario occurs that could potentially cause a delay (supply chain issues, etc) our team will always keep you up to date on the progress of your project and discuss any options that may be available to mitigate possible delays.

Who will be my main point of contact?

A good renovation company will have a team who is dedicated to managing the customer/client experience. With Bradshaw Builds, your main point of contact will be our administration team. You will be provided with regular updates and content as your project progresses through key milestones throughout the renovation process. The administration team is available to address any of your questions or concerns by phone call, email or even live chat. You can put your mind at ease knowing that someone is always available to answer your questions and keep you up to date on your project’s progress from start to finish.

I have never been through a renovation before, what can I expect?

Renovations can be a very stressful experience but we’re here to help. From the very first meeting you will see what makes us different than other renovation companies, the customer experience. Our team will go through all of the details of your project with you and make sure any of your questions and concerns are addressed. Prior to your project starting, our administration team will contact you to go over start dates, any preparation that may need to be completed and if required, provide you with assistance in making any decisions on materials or finishings. We’re here to answer any questions or concerns that you may have and to make the renovation process as seamless and enjoyable as possible.

Can my estimate potentially change?

Before starting your project, you will be provided with a detailed estimate that will include all aspects of the project and the details of what is included. There may be times that a client chooses to add additional items to the original estimate, these changes would affect the original pricing. Any additional costs that arise are discussed with and agreed upon by the client prior to making any changes. With any renovation, there is always the possibility of unforeseen situations that could have an impact on the original estimate. If these situations arise, any possible additional costs or delays will be discussed in detail with the client to determine how they wish to proceed.

Can I live in my house during my renovation?

This will vary depending on the size of the project and the areas in your home that are affected. For smaller scale renovations, it is likely that you will have the option to remain in your home during the renovation process. You will be provided with a detailed break down of the scope of work that is being completed so that you can make an informed decision whether you will be able to live comfortably through the renovation. If your house is unusable during the renovation process, you will need to take into consideration any additional costs involved in living somewhere else temporarily (short term rental costs, moving/storage fees, etc.). You may be able to alleviate some of the additional costs by storing your belongings in a temporary storage pod and/or staying at a family member or friend’s house temporarily. Moving out of your home while your renovation is being completed can help maximize efficiency, leading to faster completion times, along with creating a much more enjoyable renovation experience.
